Communications Specialist
Overview: Incumbent functions as Communications Specialist for the 901 Component 1 of the Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) program within the Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity (DNPA). The Communications Specialist will provide leadership in implementing all communications projects and activities for 901 Component 1 interventions, as well as other interventions from collaborating state agency divisions including the DNPA. The Director of the DNPA and the Director of the Healthy Communities Division will provide supervision for the Communications Specialist.

Candidate should hold at minimum an undergraduate degree (master’s degree preferred) in communications/public relations or related major, as well as experience in health communications, preferably in a public health setting. Prefer someone with an interest and/or experience in communication of nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco cessation initiatives.

Program Evaluation Coordinator
Overview: Incumbent functions as Program Evaluation Coordinator for the 901 Component 1 of the Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) program within the Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity (DNPA). The Program Evaluation Coordinator will provide evaluative direction in the development and implementation of 901 statewide interventions to promote physical activity, healthy eating and tobacco cessation and control through policy and environmental systems change within all small employment settings and schools. The Director of the DNPA and the Director of the Healthy Communities Division will provide supervision for the Program Evaluation Coordinator.

Candidate should hold at least a master’s degree in pubic health, as well as two years experience in program evaluation, preferably in a public health setting. Prefer someone with an interest and/or experience in evaluation of nutrition and physical activity initiatives.

School Coordinator

Candidate should hold certification either as a registered dietitian with the American Dietetic Association Commission on Dietetic Registration and/or have at least a master’s degree in nutrition or public health nutrition, or hold a master’s degree as well as experience in a discipline related to physical activity promotion (e.g., exercise science, exercise physiology, or physical education) and public health. Candidate also should have experience and interest in promoting nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco cessation and control within the school setting.

Diabetes Program Evaluator
Overview: The Program Evaluator will develop and administer evaluation activities for the Indiana Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) at the Indiana State Department of Health. This position will serve as the resident resource and specialist for program evaluation. The Program Evaluator will also work under the guidance of the DPCP Program Director to coordinate and write the Indiana Diabetes State Plan, as well as applications and reports for federal grants. Work is broad in scope involving complex program elements which require analytical, interpersonal and strong writing skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: public health or community health, health education, nursing, dietetics, foods and nutrition, or similar degree. Master’s Degree in Public Health preferred. Two years relevant experience needed – in public or community health settings preferred.

Epidemiologist
Overview: Serve as Epidemiologist for the Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) at the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). Responsible for carrying out a variety of epidemiologic activities related to data collection, data analysis, and reporting of findings. Supervised by the Chronic Disease Epidemiology Director and the DPCP Director. Serve as a member of the ISDH Chronic Disease Epidemiology Team.

Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) or a Master’s of Science degree in public health (MSPH), with a focus on epidemiology and/or data analysis and assessment; or Bachelor’s or other non-epidemiology bachelor’s degree in any of the following: public health, nursing, or pharmacy with a minimum requirement of two years experience performing epidemiology work under the guidance of an Epidemiologist.
